In a great move for music and video lovers MTV has open the new MTVMusic.com, which is apparently in BETA. I’ve heard some of the buzz and checked it out. It is really easy to use and is comprable to YouTube in features and searching. This will be of great use on my TVComputer I’ve built… the videos aren’t in HD yet like ABC’s online shows (fingers crossed here)… embedding and comments (which I could do without) are hopefully just a glimmer of the options that will be avaliable. So far any ads (video-wise) are non-exsistent…

I’ve noticed a few issues, for example, try searching for 311 (if you get any ’311 the band’ results let me know, because I did not). They do have some of 311′s videos, but you have to go to the ‘#’ at the end of the alphabet letter listings to find them. Also, get direct access to the underlying flash videos(?? or FLV files– I’m making assumptions here…) is not straight forward, but I do suspect someone is already using something like Charles to harvest content. More on this in a later post.

After all the punishment of watching strictly B-actor reality TV since the late 90s the true fans of music now have a reason to talk about MTV again. Thanks MTV! I want my MTV (again).

EeePC with Tiger and XP (Zune Theme)

Here’s my EeePC completely decked out. Sun’s VirtualBox provided the XP seamlessly. There’s not many (if any) day-to-day items that it won’t do. I’ll pass on MacBook Air and save about 2600$. Nuff said!

Hello World 2.0!

So, I’m finally taking the blog plunge, but not just because I can; I finally found a decent reason to post a blurb here or there… computers and computer systems I’m working on and custom installs. I might even throw in some XHTML/XML oriented news here as well… we’ll see.

As of right now I’m sitting in front of 5 LCDs with 4 computers total at my finger tips. My latest project is the EeePC. So far I’ve successfully installed Upchuck 10.3 and XP on a 701 Surf, which I have tuxedoed by switching in a black battery and keyboard courtesy of my co-worker, added 2GB of RAM, and swapped in a more OS X compatible Dell Broadcomm Wireless mini PCIe card, and I also have a cool mini-’snagless’ bluetooth adapter, but I hope to do more.

My co-worker has installed a touchscreen on his eeeXP machine (same as my 701 Surf), which should work on OS X (Tiger via Upchuck 10.3) and I have also recently enabled the broadband hack on my VX9100 (enV2) tethered via the mini-bluetooth which proved vital for directions and other information on my 24+ hour drive with my 95 Del Sol from Ohio to Atlanta to Key Largo / Islamorada to Tampa and then back to Ohio.
